ATHINA’S GUEST HOUSE is built on 1,150 m2 of land that was once an olive grove. The house itself has 200 m2 of usable space. The Guest House consists of a main building of 150 m2 and two studios of 50 m2 each.
The ground floor of the main two-storey building features a spacious lounge-sitting area which can easily be rearranged to accommodate lectures, showings, seminars, and other events. This level includes a kitchen, a WC and a large veranda. The upper floor has three bedrooms and a bathroom, and connects to the ground floor through an interior stairway.
The grounds are fenced and protected by a specially constructed “green” wall. The fence essentially consists of climbing and ornamental plants which keep out the dust from the road, provide oxygen and sound insulation, and are pleasing to the eye. The enclosed garden allows children and pets (they are welcome!) to play safely, with plenty of space for guests to park their cars.
ATHINA’S GUEST HOUSE is owned by Athina Papageorgiou, for years the director of the Alexandros Papadiamantis Museum housed in the Greek writer’s home. She is the guardian of the Papadiamantis legacy, the soul of the island’s cultural happenings and deeply knowledgeable about the history and cultural heritage of Skiathos. She is often invited by both private and municipal cultural organisations throughout Greece to lecture on the work of Papadiamantis and the cultural history of the island.
ATHINA’S GUEST HOUSE, named for the woman who bequeathed it to her granddaughter, was originally intended to serve as a private home, but was redesigned to accommodate visitors who wanted to learn more about Skiathos. The owner has added many personal touches and welcomes guests with this in mind: “Love for my homeland, respect for my guest”.
″ Everyone who helps care for ATHINA’S GUEST HOUSE and endeavours to provide the best service possible wishes you a comfortable, tranquil, refreshing and restful stay with physical and mental rejuvenation! ″
